Andrea Ellen is an American designer and metalsmith based in Reykjavik, Iceland who crafts handmade jewellery inspired by the uniquely powerful colors, textures and materials of Iceland.

Andrea is creating ” bridge jewelry." Jewelry that bridges the gap between fine and costume jewelry. She works in all sterling silver, 14K gold and vermeil and often uses Lava and semi-precious stones (such as amethyst, citrine, turquoise, jade, topaz, fresh water pearls, garnet). ​​Andrea began learning metalsmithing and jewelry at the age of 15 from Jean Bass and Sandra Bush, two female crafters from Kansas whom she still admires and holds in high regard.

 

Over the subsequent decades, Andrea’s love of the craft, along with her skills, deepened as she obtained a BA in History while also pursuing coursework in Metalsmithing and Jewelry at the University of Kansas, University of Copenhagen and the Oregon College of Art and Craft. She continues private course work with teachers she deeply admires such as Kate Wolfe, Francesca Watson and Jeff Fulkerson. Andrea views working with metal and stones as a life long learning process.

 

In 2008, Andrea began selling her work on the streets of Reykjavik, followed by public markets, pop-up shops and a brick and mortar store since 2018. She’s sold her jewelry to visitors from all seven continents of the world including scientists from Antarctica and NASA,  to famous rock and movie stars, North Korean government officials to entrepreneurial wunderkinds. 
 

Her work has been used in films and TV shows and has been on display at the Icelandic National History Museum.  You can currently find her selling and crafting her wears at Laugavegur 33, Reykjavik, Iceland.
